The English have long had a reputation for being staid, unadventurous, and totally lacking in an understanding of food and wine. Of most home-based English people this is true. However, for years, England produced a class that inhabited the Empire and developed a sense of fun, a taste for fine food, and good living. It is to this expatriate sub-culture that Mad Dogs and Englishmen is dedicated.
