Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band
With ordained minister, Kentucky Colonel, and Wildman virtuoso The Rev. Peyton up front on the national guitar, his wife the lovely and equally insane Washboard Breezy, and Aaron “Cuz” Persinger keeping time on the kick and snare, this is a band that somehow crosses the barriers between indie rock/punk rock kids, Americana fans, scenesters, and traditional blues fans.
Hailing from the hills of Southern Indiana, the Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band is touring in support of their latest release ‘The Whole Fam Damnily’ which debuted at #4 on the Billboard Blues chart. In 2009 they played over 250 shows in the United States, Canada, and all over Europe. The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band can be heard on Sirius, XM, and FM, college and specialty stations across the U.S. Furthermore, some of the tunes have been featured in several independent films and documentaries including “Mississippi Cold Case”, featured story on CNN.com, Michael Feldman’s Whad’Ya Know on NPR, and recently on the Bob and Tom Show.
This summer the band was chosen by the Houston Chronicle as one of the five sterling acts of the Austin City Limits Festival, along with greats such as, Pearl Jam, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Dead Weather (Jack White), and Girl Talk. The Indianapolis Star called Reverend Peyton a Hoosier Musical treasure. The band will be appearing the summer of 2010 on the entire Van’s Warped Tour.
Many fans come to hear the wild raconteur antics of the Reverend and some come to see a woman light a washboard on fire which she continues to play, all of them come to hear and see the crazed energy and relevant lyrics that speak to all that is real and true in an often artificial world. The Reverend is butter in a world of margarine; he is sugar in a world of saccharin, wood in a world of plastic. He is the real deal. A real big damn deal.
