GIVERS are a Indie/Dance Pop/Afro-Folk band from Lafayette, Louisiana and you are gonna be hearing lots of buzz about this band once the full freshman release comes out later this year. We caught up with songstress, Tif "teddy" Lamson, while the band was on their way to the Sunshine State.

REAX: Name some albums you’ve been listening to while on the road. Can you recommend any new music to REAX readers? Are there any past albums you can’t live without?
GIVERS: Well, so far- we've dipped back into albums that we used to be into and rocked.. Tool?- Lateralus and what not...we forgot how amazing those albums are. Also, we are jamming Dr Dog?'s albums- getting familiar with them since we are sharing a bill with them later on this tour in Cleveland. Other than that, we are focused on listening to the roughs of our new album and making notes.

REAX: The band has been getting lots of Vampire Weekend comparisons, do you all agree with that?
GIVERS: Everyone relates a new band to sounds of something they are familiar with, that's inevitable. Because of our African influenced similarities, we can understand that.

REAX: Seems as if there are quite a few Louisiana bands breaking thru lately, whats the vibe around the state these days?
GIVERS: For the most part, we feel the scene growing immensely and we are so glad to see Louisiana bands breaking though to a national scene. Louisiana seems generate it's own unique sounds and creativity amongst the bands that live here. We love calling it home.

REAX: Speaking of LOUISIANA breaking thru, want to make a Super Bowl prediction?
GIVERS: There's no prediction - we already won that bitch! Who Dat?!

REAX: You guys have some big stops along the way on this tour, any particular shows you are really amped up about?
GIVERS: Yeah! Florida has been treating us well so far and we are always excited to play in new towns. Princeton will be fun to return too and New York is always a blast! We are especially excited to do a show with Dr. Dog and return to the Crescent city for Lundi Gras!

REAX: Will you guys be headed back to the studio post SXSW?? Will there be any new tricks up your sleeve or a different direction the band might be heading?
GIVERS: Actually, we are heading back into the studio right after this tour is over and finishing up before SXSW. After SXSW, we will be in the mixing and mastering stage. Josh and Taylor just started playing with picks.. Well, only on one song for Taylor.

REAX: I know most of the players are in improve groups, how does that differ from working together to make up the Givers music?
GIVERS: The creative process is born out of improvisation. What seperates us from the improv groups is the fact that we are now focused on songwriting/arranging while enjoying the sensation of spontaneity on stage.
