A true Florida folk musician now relocated to Austin Texas, Katleen Taylor?'s drawling finger picked guitar tunes about Gainesville, Florida and simpler times and wishes may come off as naive at first listen. But the genuine nature of the songs themselves without pretense or bravado is what sustains the songs and the music itself. On her first release entitled Defy the World she navigates familiar territory through ten songs about hopes, dreams, wishes, and that which cannot be. While not a bad first release, it is also one that is hesitant to take chances, and it stands out as something more traditional in a sea of neo-folk experimentation by like minded artists.
