To be honest, Say It is the first album I’ve ever heard by Born Ruffians. Somewhere along the way I missed their first full-length release “Red. Yellow. Blue.” But it’s all good, because “Say It” has sparked a definite interest in this Canadian trio for me. This album stays true to the band’s light hearted, popish, indie funk style. It’s a sound that they’ve made completely their own, and it’s great. It’s fun.
My favorite track on the album would have to be “Retard Canard,” not only for it’s ridiculous but curiously interesting title, but because of what a fun track it is. “I don’t want to set a flame in your heart// I just want to set the world on fire.” The track has a great build, and I can’t help but dance about my room while it plays. The songs on this album are catchy and the album as a whole is easy listening. I can’t help but dance because they put me in a good mood.
