Noise is the 7 song debut CD from this Austin, Texas group of Matt Sharp acolytes. Instead of shrugging and accepting the geek-rock tag on their sweater vests, Built by Snow flaunts it, with songs that have cynical Weezer-esque vocals, fuzzbox guitars, high school pep-rally backing vocals, and songs about "...girls, robots, NASA and engineers..." . This record made me harken back to 1996 when groups with a few big muff pedals and cheap guitar amps, 60's pop drum beats and a moog synth were breaking into the charts. If you crave power pop with some garage sounds and pocket protectors this CD is worth a listen.
