Liquid Jesus at the Orpheum

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: For Liquid Jesus is with me... Two of Reax's own (plus the ever-infamous DJ Rig) will be dropping their own version of gospel over the PA tonight. Playing new tracks from up and coming artists as well as rarities and gems from the crate will make this a night to acquaint yourself with the latest and greatest in music. Did we mention it's 2 for 1 EVERYTHING? Hallelujah!

AFI at the Ritz

They've been around for nearly two full decades and in that time have gathered up a large and loyal following for lead vocalist, Davey Havok (the only real constant member of the group). AFI's other constant is their "dark" rock sound and it has been building since the band's conception to considerable success, culminating in 2003 with "Sing The Sorrow." While they've switched labels as much as band members (as well as Havok's appearance), AFI continues to fill the seats and with Havok's electronic-based side project earning praise with its debut release in 2007, the group has maintained its appeal to bring innovative music to their fans. See AFI Tuesday at a more intimate venue (with stellar sound), The Ritz.

The Fightin' Malones at Fly Bar

The name of this band screams of traditional Saint Patty's Day lore but there's more here than just drunk pub anthems. The Fightin' Malones uses the bluegrass/country sounds of their home state of Tennessee as a foundation for their brand of Celtic Roots rock. They make their formal debut at The Fly Bar this Wednesday. Free admission. Prices for hangovers are too high to list.

Pnuma Trio at Crowbar

The Pnuma Trio blends electronica with jazz, drum and bass, funk and hip hop. They've been dubbed as the "music of the future," by Art Voice magazine. To give you a sense of their sound, The Pnuma Trio has toured with Buckethead, String Cheese Incident and Lotus, which may explain a lot. Their keyboardist, Ben Hazlegrove, received his classical training from Berklee College of Music while Alex Botwin (bass) and Lane Shaw (drums) were trained in jazz. This band has been getting some major hype on the internet and through word of mouth with their appearances at major festivals like Langerado and Camp Bisco. See the future of music this Friday.
