The problem with Kid Sister's debut full length Ultraviolet isn't the music itself. The 29 year old Chicago native has her feet planted firmly in both the indie dance and club worlds, with her right hand (Twister style) on the blue dot of hip hop. She knows how (and who) to collaborate with. Cee-Lo, A-Trak, Lil' Wayne, and, of course, Kanye, all make appearances here, adding to Sis's rapid fire, staccato, trademark delivery. Make no mistake, this is a FUN record, but here lies the problem: 3 years in the making? The stand out tracks here are "Control" and "Pro Nails", the two tracks that made everyone stand up and take notice in the first place, over two years ago. It feels a bit uninspired, as if she's simply laying down templates for the Remix Nation to turn these songs into the dance floor anthems they could be. A fun, yet forgettable, disk from Kid Sister just doesn't work, especially given her promise.
